Dean Sheppard, MD has been appointed Chief of the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care, Allergy and Sleep Medicine at Parnassus/Mt. Zion. In addition, Dr. Sheppard will continue as the Director of the Lung Biology Center. Dr. Sheppard will step down from his role as Associate Chair for Biomedical Research in the Department.

The SFGH Foundation has awarded Michelle Schneidermann, MD a 2009 Hearts Grant for the SFGH Natural Foods Access Project.

Edward Goetzl, MD has been selected to receive the Eicosanoid Research Foundation's 2009 Outstanding Achievement Award.
